The John Jay College of Criminal Justice offers many qualifications relating to the Criminal Justice System. The Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology is designed to help train students wishing to pursue a career in Psychology in the Criminal Justice System and to assist them in preparing to study at a doctorate level. It focuses on the ability to understand, evaluate and treat both offenders and victims. The curriculum also lays emphasis on understanding psychological development and psychopathology, personality assessments, research methods and more. Students may take an externship of a minimum of 300 hours in a suitable setting or instead take a thesis.
