The University of Rhode Island is dedicated to providing motivation and quality education to all applicants approved to take part in the APA accredited Ph.D. program and Master's degree program. The main focus of study is psychology as it relates to children, families, communities and schools. The psychology department at URI was founded in 1964, offering a Master's degree, which developed into a Ph.D. program by 1970. Students are given a basic understanding of the general field of Psychology before specializing in an area of expertise. This foundation creates a strong stepping off point for success in future careers and continuing studies. This particular doctoral program is among the first to be accredited in the United States by the American psychological Association (APA).Interview
