The University Of North Carolina Wilmington's Department of Psychology offers a basic applied approach to teaching. Applicants are able to apply for undergraduate and graduate programs that are firmly based on research and tactile approaches to Psychology. Students at UNCW are required to work with a faculty member in an investigation of subjects such as substance abuse, cognitive aging, traumatic brain injuries, brain processes, developmental disabilities and mental illness, as well as a wide variety of other psychology related topics. The Master's program at UNCW centers around three concentrations, each emphasizing a different set of principles that forms the substructure of all studies of psychology; general psychology, substance abusive treatment, and applied behavior analysis.
