Seattle University's College of Arts and Sciences offers a different take on training in the Master of Arts Psychology program by basing their lessons on the existential-phenomenological-therapeutic approach to psychology. This is based on a strong foundation of phenomenology as well as the tradition of scriptural interpretation as it stands in psycho therapeutic practices. Students are required to enter into a nine month period of practicum, which aids in preparing them for future professional success in clinics, hospitals, or private practices. This program aids students in preparing themselves to obtain licensing in the state of Washington as a counselor in the mental health field. It can also lead to further studies in a doctoral program, is completed over a time span of two years and includes 72 credits.
